Newspaper Headlines: Ooni’s ex-queen hospitalised after arrest over Ibadan funfair stampede

Reports on the yuletide celebration and the stampede incident in Ibadan dominate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Port Harcourt refinery has stopped working less than a month after it resumed production. The newspaper says Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi, has been released from prison after meeting his bail conditions.
THISDAY reports that Wale Edun, minister of finance, said an annual investment of $20 billion is needed for Nigeria to achieve a seven percent economic growth by 2027. The newspaper says a high court in Edo has nullified the suspension of the local government chairpersons in the state.
Nigerian Tribune reports that Bitrus Pogu, national president of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), said parents of Almajiri children should be jailed. The newspaper says three policemen and one suspect have died in a road accident that occurred along the Benin-Ore-Ijedu Ode road in Ondo state.

The newspaper says many Nigerians are shopping, stocking up their homes and travelling despite the economic and security challenges that many had feared would spoil the fun associated with the season.
