Newspaper Headlines: Oyo files murder, manslaughter charges against Ooni’s ex-wife

Reports on the “accidental” bombing in Zamfara by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), and the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), perfuse the frontpages today. 

The Punch reports that about 250 manufacturers and academic institutions have abandoned their respective power distribution companies to generate their own electricity. The newspaper says the Oyo state government has filed murder and manslaughter charges against Naomi Silekunola, ex-wife of Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, CEO Of Agidigbo FM; and Fasasi Abdullahi, over the stampede that occurred at the children funfair in Ibadan.
The Nation reports that the federal government has established an inter-ministerial panel to enforce the supreme court judgment that mandates the direct disbursement of financial allocations to LGAs. The newspaper says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is considering diaspora and inmate voting.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is calling for dialogue on the controversial tax reform bills. The newspaper says confusion and lamentation have trailed the enforcement of the ban on single-use plastics (SUPs) by the Lagos state government.
The Guardian reports that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) could head into a collision course with religious organisations over the plan to include activities considered illicit and immoral in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) computation. The newspaper says Aminu Ado Bayero, the dethroned emir of Kano, said he is heading to the supreme court to challenge the verdict of the appeal court on the emirship tussle.
