Newspaper Headlines: PDP BoT summons emergency meeting to save Atiku’s campaign

The discovery of over N8billion worth of tramadol in a mansion in Lagos by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says the board of trustees (BOT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will meet this week to deliberate on the crisis rocking the party. The newspaper reports that 400 inmates who escaped from the Kuje prison are still at large.
The Nation says Umaru Al-Makura, former Nasarawa governor, said none of the presidential candidates is a match to Bola Tinubu, flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The newspaper reports that NDLEA has recovered over 13 million pills of tramadol worth over N8 billion from a mansion in Lagos.
THISDAY reports that the leadership of the APC in Rivers state said it is “embarrassing and improper” for some of the party’s governors to visit Nyesom Wike, governor of the state, in complete disregard for the state chapter. The newspaper says Mike Igini, former resident electoral commissioner in Akwa Ibom, said the 2023 elections will be won or lost at the polling units.
Daily Trust says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will release the final list of governorship candidates today. The newspaper reports that flood has taken over the Lokoja-Abuja highway and sacked communities in Jigawa.
The Guardian says PDP may cede senate presidency and secretary to the government of federation to the south-west and south-east respectively.
