Newspaper Headlines: PDP crisis worsens as Wike, Okowa’s camps clash

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following Atiku Abubakar’s choice of running mate dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that the post-presidential primary crisis rocking the PDP has escalated. The newspaper says one of the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack has been shot in captivity.
Daily Independent says governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have taken a back seat in the activities of the party. The newspaper reports that the court has restrained the Oyo state house of assembly from impeaching Rauf Olaniyan, deputy governor of the state.
The Punch says the camps of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, and Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta, have clashed over the party’s choice of vice-presidential candidate. THISDAY reports that Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, is in doubt whether to support Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP, in the 2023 presidential election. The newspaper says the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has set January 2023 deadline for financial institutions to implement the risk-based cybersecurity framework and guidelines for other financial institutions.
