The rising tension in Osun state ahead of Saturday’s governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that a meeting of the governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss zoning arrangements for the 2023 presidential ticket ended in a deadlock in Ghana. The Osun state government has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to disrupt APC governorship primary election, the newspaper says.
The Punch says the federal government and the PDP sparred over the report of a 3.4 percent growth in the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the fourth quarter of 2021. The newspaper reports that customers have rejected the “silent” hike in electricity tariff amid petrol scarcity.
