Newspaper Headlines: PDP NEC meeting shaky as Wike, governors forum chair flex muscles

The saga starring Mudashiru Obasa, the recently impeached speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, and the state’s legislature, dominates the headlines today. 

Punch reports that the Lagos house of assembly has tackled Obasa who has refuted the basis of his impeachment. The newspaper says Oyo has started the payment of N80, 000 as the new minimum wage for the state. 
Independent says police attacked terrorist camps in Imo, killing three notorious kingpins associated with the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The newspaper reports that at least 10 people were killed in a fuel tanker explosion at Ugwu Onyeama, Udi LGA of Enugu state.
Tribune reports that the six south-western states in Nigeria collectively contributed N3.11 trillion to the country’s value added tax (VAT) pool in 2024 but received N849.7 billion. The newspaper says Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, said the country is suffering due to corrupt officials who are draining government resources.
