Newspaper Headlines: Petrol pump price nears N1,000 per litre in FCT, states

Reports on the contract dispute between the Ogun state government and Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd, suffuse the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd, the Chinese firm that got a court injunction to seize three presidential jets belonging to the federal government, has initiated plans to seize other Nigerian assets in the UK, US and six other countries. The newspaper says the National Judicial Council (NJC) will send Kudirat Kekere-Ekun’s name to President Bola Tinubu today, for approval as the next chief justice of Nigeria (CJN).
Daily Trust reports that the price of petrol is nearing N1,000 per litre in the federal capital territory (FCT) and some states. The newspaper says the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed September 12 for its national executive committee (NEC) meeting.
Vanguard reports that the federal and Ogun state governments are battling to recover seized presidential jets. The newspaper says the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed 39 cases of mpox in the country.
THISDAY reports the federal government as saying that presidential jets are sovereign assets that are immune to seizure. The newspaper says the federal government has launched a $500 million FX-denominated domestic bond.
