The Punch reports that the hunger protests which began last Thursday appear to have lost steam following crack downs on the organisers and protesters. The newspaper says the senate has questioned the $1.5 billion approved in 2021 for the turn-around maintenance of the Port Harcourt Refining and Petrochemical Company — with very little to show.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the Nigerian Army said it has begun investigation into the killing of a 16-year-old boy in Zaria, Kaduna state. The newspaper says Wale Edun, minister of finance, has disclosed that the country currently spends $600 million on fuel importation monthly.
The Guardian reports that Nigerian universities earned N12.84 billion on transcript processing. The newspaper reports the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as saying that it sold foreign exchange (FX) to banks worth $876.26 million at N1,495 per dollar.
