Newspaper Headlines: President-elect Tinubu to receive certificate of return today

The results of Saturday’s presidential election dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing the highest votes in Saturday’s presidential election.
The Punch reports that the federal government has criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his comment that elections should be rescheduled in places marred by irregularities. The newspaper says 76 percent of the beneficiaries of the anchor borrowers programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are yet to repay their loans.
Daily Trust reports that the APC is maintaining a lead in the 10th senate with 49 seats. The newspaper says Alhassan Doguwa, majority leader of the house of representatives, has been arrested by the police for his alleged role in attacks in Kano state during the general election.
Daily Independent reports that the major opposition parties have called for the cancellation of Saturday’s presidential election over alleged irregularities. The newspaper says the West African Elders Forum has asked political parties and their supporters to remain calm over the just concluded presidential election.
