Newspaper Headlines: Prominent citizens call for unity at Nigeria’s 61st independence

The comment of President Muhammadu Buhari on those funding secessionist leaders in the country dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers as the country marks 61 years of independence.

The Punch reports that Buhari said a member of the national assembly and prominent Nigerians are funding secessionist leaders like Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho. The Debt Management Office said the country spent N445 billion on debt servicing in the second quarter, the newspaper says.
