Newspaper Headlines: Protesters defy ban, hold #EndSARS memorial rallies in Lagos, Abuja

The face-off between protesters and security operatives during the #EndSARS memorial rallies in some parts of the country appeared on the cover pages.

The Nation says the federal government said it is now mandatory for recruits of security agencies to undergo psychiatric and drug tests. The newspaper reports that the federal government is targeting 75,000 yearly jobs for graduates.
Daily Independent says security operatives confronted protesters in major cities across the country during the first anniversary of the #EndSARS protest. Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, asked the federal government to declare bandits as terrorists, the newspaper reports.
The Punch reports that Lagos state paid N420 million as compensation to victims of police brutality, while some other states shunned payments. Recep Erdogan, president of Turkey, said that the terrorists who tried to remove him through a coup in 2016 are still active in Nigeria, the newspaper says.

The newspaper says governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met on Wednesday to address the issues surrounding the party’s forthcoming convention.
Daily Sun reports that bandits have abducted no fewer than 13 passengers along Zungeru-Tegina road, Niger state. The newspaper says the police accused the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of killing two monarchs in Imo.
