Newspaper Headlines: Russia denies involvement in #EndBadGovernance protest

Reports on the #EndBadGovernance protest, and President Bola Tinubu’s appeal to the demonstrators, permeate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Some Nigerians, including a former general and ex-diplomats, have expressed worry after some protesters in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest waved the Russian flag. The newspaper says the Lagos police command said suspects arrested over the death of Aribemchukwu, the slain daughter of Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, a judge, may be charged with conspiracy and murder.
The Nation reports that President Bola Tinubu has asked youths to stop the ongoing protests and that he has heard their voices loud and clear. The newspaper says Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, said 95 percent of the youths that participated in Thursday’s violent protests in Maiduguri were children under 14 years.
Vanguard reports that the police in Kano have started conducting house-to-house search to recover looted properties in the state. The newspaper says the Ogun government said Dapo Abiodun, governor of the state, did not say protesters are sore looters.

Daily Independent reports that there was stampede during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Abuja after security operatives fired at journalists and protesters. The newspaper says analysts have argued that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), without the leadership of Mahmood Yakubu, can conduct LGA elections effectively.
