Newspaper Headlines: Sanwo-Olu orders probe of Lagos building collapse

The collapse of a 21-storey building in the Ikoyi area of Lagos state, which has led to the death of 10 persons and left several injured, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch newspaper reports that 10 persons have died in the 21-storey building that collapsed in Lagos. The newspaper says fuel queues have resurfaced in Nasarawa, Niger and Abuja as marketers have increased the price of petrol.
Daily Independent says the national assembly has been criticised over what stakeholders in the aviation industry described as undue interference in the operation of the sector. Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, said Nigeria’s worst military government is better than the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the newspaper reports.
The Nation reports that the beneficiaries of the 774,000 special public works programme (SPWP) are being owed N7.3 billion. The newspaper says Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, has ordered a probe into invasion of the residence of Mary Odili, a justice of the supreme court.
THISDAY says Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has ordered an immediate probe into the collapsed 21-storey Ikoyi building. The newspaper reports that Lucky Irabor, chief of the defence staff, said military operations in 36 states are draining resources.
Daily Sun reports that Charles Soludo, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Andy Uba, his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), fought dirty at the Anambra governorship election debate. The newspaper reports that aviation handlers have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike over the national assembly directive to stop the newly approved handling rates by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
