Newspaper Headlines: Security agencies probe two ex-governors over terrorism funding

Reports on the 2023 budget and the crisis in political parties ahead of the 2023 polls dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Sunday Punch reports that the offices of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will spend N11.92 billion on food, local foreign trips and other items. The newspaper says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that multiple voting and rigging are no longer possible in the country’s elections.

Sunday Independent reports that analysts have said the support base of Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and the crisis in the PDP are the biggest threats to the chances of Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, in the 2023 polls. The newspaper says the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the federal government of planning to recruit thugs to disrupt elections in the south-east.
