Newspaper Headlines: Senate, NNPC on collision course over refusal of Mele Kyari to honour summons

The insistence of stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the south-west on the removal of Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation says President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present the 2023 budget to the national assembly next month. The newspaper reports that commercial banks have asked travellers in need of dollars to get travel debit cards as they commence card-based dollar disbursements.
Daily Independent says the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) said it has uncovered a plot to use the court to stop the deployment of bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) for the 2023 elections. The newspaper reports that telecommunications operators gained 11.4 million subscribers in seven months.
Daily Sun reports that the supreme court has declared Odili Ifeanyi as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi. The newspaper says the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to shut down the country over the ongoing ASUU strike.
THISDAY says the federal government has announced that the Port Harcourt refinery will resume production by December 2023. The newspaper reports trouble seems to be looming between the national assembly and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on whether the lawmakers have the power to summon the oil company.
