Newspaper Headlines: Six commissioners resign from Fubara’s cabinet

Reports on the resignation of commissioners from the cabinet of Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has asked the federal government to reject the proposal of the World Bank that petrol should be sold at N750 per litre. The newspaper says 32 state governments budgeted N14.13 trillion for the construction of roads, health, education projects, and payment of salaries.
The Nation reports that six commissioners have resigned from the cabinet of Fubara, governor of Rivers state. The newspaper reports President Bola Tinubu as saying that he is working with the national assembly to fix the economy.
THISDAY reports that the federal government said only energy firms with proven capacity would be prioritised and considered for oil assets award during bid rounds. The newspaper says the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) said it has so far recovered over N1.8 trillion, stating that in the year 2022, the corporation made a profit of N58.59 billion.
