Newspaper Headlines: Six months on, 76 embassies, 109 foreign missions await new envoys

Reports on the new capital base requirements for commercial banks in Nigeria, permeate the front pages of the dailies. 

The Punch reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed commercial banks with international authorisation to increase their capital base to N500 billion. The newspaper says the Nigerian military has disclosed that it may place a bounty on suspects connected to the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community of Delta state.
The Nation reports that some banks may likely merge in order to meet the capital base requirement stipulated by the CBN. The newspaper says the national leadership of the Labour Party (LP) has disowned the board of trustees (BoT) of the party constituted by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The Guardian reports that Nigeria’s 76 embassies and 109 foreign missions await new envoys, six months after President Bola Tinubu recalled all career and non-career ambassadors. The newspaper says the house of representatives’ public accounts committee has queried the alleged payment of N15 billion to Remita, a payment platform, from the office of the accountant-general of the federation.
