Newspaper Headlines: Some Kaduna train-attack victims bitten by snakes, says negotiator

Reports on petrol scarcity in some parts of Lagos and the federal capital territory dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that political parties have been warned against the use of interim running mates for the 2023 presidential election. The newspaper says petrol scarcity has hit some parts of Lagos and Abuja as the product now sells for N180 per litre.
The Nation reports that petrol marketers have started to increase the price of the product amid scarcity. The newspaper says bandits have demanded N100 million ransom for the worshippers kidnapped in two churches in Kajuru LGA, Kaduna state.
Daily Trust reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to replace former ministers who resigned to pursue their political ambitions. The newspaper says Tukur Mamu, Kaduna-based publisher who negotiated the release of 11 of the Kaduna train passengers, said some of the victims have been bitten by snakes, the newspaper says.
Daily Independent says the high cost of diesel has negatively affected the growth of the private sector in the country. The newspaper reports that the court has restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from ending the ongoing voter registration on June 30, 2022.
Daily Sun reports that gunmen enforcing sit-at-home order bombed Izombe market in Oguta LGA, Imo state. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said the agency arrested 17,647 drug offenders and 10 drug barons in 17 months, the newspaper says.
