Newspaper Headlines: Subscribers head for court over 50% hike in telecoms tariff

The national dailies report that prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Umar Damagum, its acting national chairman; and Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu; will boycott the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Daily Trust reports that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has denied opposing the idea of forming a coalition that would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. The newspaper says Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, has warned that Nigeria could lose its hard-fought democracy if it continues on its current trajectory.
Punch reports that subscribers are heading for the courtroom after talks with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over the 50 percent hike in telecoms tariff hit a brick wall.
