Newspaper Headlines: Terrorists deposited weapons in Plateau communities before attacks, says senator

Reports on the New Year expectations of Nigerians, and President Bola Tinubu’s broadcast, permeate the front pages today. 

The Punch reports that Nigerians have asked the Tinubu administration to end economic hardship in 2024. The newspaper says the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has commenced the supply of crude oil for the test-running of the Port Harcourt refinery.
The Nation reports Abdul Ningi, a senator from Bauchi, as saying that the terrorists who attacked Plateau deposited their arms at different points within the communities ahead of the attacks. The newspaper says Tinubu has promised Nigerians a fulfilling 2024.
Daily Trust reports that Edison Ehie, speaker of the Rivers house of assembly, has resigned as a member of the legislative chamber. The newspaper says some members of the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said Jim Obazee, the special investigator to the apex bank, neither interviewed nor contacted them during the probe, before recommending that they be prosecuted.
