Newspaper Headlines: Thugs disrupt inspection of election materials by PDP in Edo

Reports on the hike in the pump price of petrol continue to make frontpage headlines.

The Punch reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded the reversal of new petrol price. The newspaper says the senate has faulted moves by some governors to enact laws that will mandate local councils in their states to remit allocations into a joint account.
Daily Trust reports that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed in Abuja over the lingering crisis in the party. The newspaper says the federal government has finalised the executive order to implement zero value-added tax and excise duties on pharmaceutical products and medical devices.

 

Vanguard reports that the Nigerian Army has commenced an investigation into allegations of misappropriation against M.A. Sadiq, the immediate past commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano. The newspaper says Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno south, said the military lacks weapons and morale to defeat terrorists. 

 

The Guardian reports that frustration and hardship occasioned by the prevailing economic realities have thrown many Nigerians into depression. The newspaper reports that political thugs on Wednesday disrupted the inspection of election materials by the PDP, at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin, Edo state.
