Newspaper Headlines: Tinubu approves N50bn security vote for five northern states

Reports on the criticisms against the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, free fall of the naira against the dollar, and low electricity generation in the country, suffuse the front pages. 

The Punch reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the economic hardship in the country, which it said was worsening. The newspaper says Tinubu has approved the sum of N50 billion for five northern states.
The Guardian reports that Nigeria’s bad roads and multiple security checkpoints are fuelling illegal taxation and human rights violations. The newspaper says the federal government has asked security agencies to review the report of the explosion that occurred in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, within two weeks.
The Nation reports that the poor electricity situation nationwide has worsened with the decline of power supply to the national grid. The newspaper says the federal government and organised labour will commence discussions on minimum wage in March.
Daily Trust reports that northern youths have called for the sack of Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation, and Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of (CBN), over the planned relocation of some departments in the apex bank and headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to Lagos.
THISDAY reports Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, to join his party.
