Newspaper Headlines: Tinubu may announce new minimum wage on Workers’ Day

Reports on the stampede that occured at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that President Bola Tinubu may announce a new minimum wage on May 1 to commemorate International Workers’ Day. The newspaper says over 20 persons, including two monarchs, were killed by bandits in an attack on Madaka community in Rafi LGA of Niger state.
Daily Trust reports that Baro Inland Port in Agaie LGA of Niger state is yet to commence operation, five years after it was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari. The newspaper says at least two female students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, lost their lives following a stampede in the school premises during the distribution of rice palliative.
The Nation reports that President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to buy made-in-Nigeria products to strengthen the naira. The newspaper says the Labour Party (LP) has filed a petition to the attorney-general of the federation against the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its president, Joe Ajaero, over the vandalisation of the party’s offices.
