Newspaper Headlines: Tinubu may reshuffle cabinet, create new ministry

President Bola Tinubu’s speech on Nigeria’s 25 years of democratic rule dominated the front pages of major dailies.

The PUNCH reports that President Bola Tinubu has vowed to preserve democracy while appealing to Nigerians to be patient over the economic hardship in the country. The newspaper says the Dangote refinery will commence the supply of petrol in July.
Daily Trust reports that Tinubu may reshuffle his cabinet. The newspaper says former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the national assembly to seek the best model of government for the country.
Vanguard reports that Tinubu said the current challenges facing the country are being used to impair Nigeria’s democracy. The newspaper says Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, said there is no political will to eliminate banditry in the state and country.
The Nation reports that Ahmed Umar, a former director of currency operations, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has accused Godwin Emefiele, former governor of CBN, of printing naira notes different from the design approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari. The newspaper says the Department of State Services (DSS) has warned against violent protests on Wednesday.
