Newspaper Headlines: Tinubu sends ministerial list to DSS, EFCC for scrutiny

Reports on President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list and the attacks in Plateau state, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers today.

The Punch reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) and some security agencies are on the verge of completing their mandatory checks on the ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu. The newspaper says the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has said it will delist any loan application harassing customers.

 

Daily Trust reports that stakeholders in the rice value chain have attributed the high cost of local rice in Nigeria to insufficient paddy and poor irrigation system. The newspaper says Tinubu has been elected the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

 

Vanguard reports that the federal high court in Abuja has ordered that the details of the spending of $5 billion Abacha loot be made public. The newspaper says the Police Service Commission (PSC) has demoted a commissioner of police over alleged abuse of office.

The Guardian reports that there are strong indications that at least five former governors will feature in Tinubu’s ministerial list that is heading to the senate for approval between now and next week.

 

Nigerian Tribune reports that 12 people have been killed in fresh attacks that occurred in Mangu LGA of Plateau state. The DSS said Abdulaziz Yari, a senator, knows why he was invited by the agency for questioning, the newspaper says.
