Newspaper Headlines: Tinubu to vet foreign affairs ministry’s ambassadorial list

Reports on the hike in interest rate by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the probe of banks and firms over unverified foreign exchange payments, permeate the front pages today. 

The Punch reports that Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the CBN, has disclosed that security agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), are currently investigating questionable foreign exchange allocations. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu is yet to draw up a consolidated list of diplomats, months after receiving the names of some ambassadorial nominees from the ministry of foreign affairs.
Daily Trust reports that 60 hours after the rescue of abducted Kuriga schoolchildren, parents are yet to reunite with their children in Kaduna. The newspaper says soldiers killed in Okuama community in Delta state, will be buried today at the national military cemetery in Abuja.
The Guardian reports that the CBN has raised the monetary policy rate (MPR), which benchmarks interest rates, from 22.75 percent to 24.75 percent.
