Newspaper Headlines: Tinubu yet to move into Aso Rock, six weeks after inauguration

Reports on proceedings at the presidential election petition tribunal, and Peter Obi’s denial of a 2027 presidential ambition, dominate the front pages of newspapers today. 

Nation reports that President Bola Tinubu has given reasons why the petitions from Atiku Abubakar and Obi should be dismissed by the election tribunal. The newspaper says Obi has denied reports that he will run for office in 2027.
Sun reports that Abbas Tajudeen, speaker of the house of representatives, said the 10th assembly will create constitutional roles for monarchs. The newspaper says experts have cautioned President Tinubu on the N8,000 stipend for poor Nigerians.
Guardian reports that the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has told Tinubu to disregard “unpatriotic calls” from Igbo leaders to release Nnamdi Kanu. The paper says insecurity has worsened, as Nigerians await action from the new service chiefs.
ThisDay says Tinubu has told African leaders to ensure respect for democracy and political stability on the continent. The newspaper reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has slashed merchant banks’ cash reserve ratio (CRR) to boost long term financing.
Punch says security reports and grant allegations may knock out heavyweights from Tinubu’s ministerial list. The newspaper also reports that President Tinubu is yet to move into his Aso Rock residence, six weeks after he was sworn in as Nigeria’s 16th leader.
Tribune reports that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has told Tinubu that the second Biafra war has begun, and that soldiers should be deployed to the south-east. The newspaper says Onitsha traditional council has given notice to Nigerian prisons to vacate a parcel of land.
