Newspaper Headlines: Youth groups divided on Tinubu’s proposed confab

Reports on the violence that trailed Saturday’s local government elections in Rivers state permeate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that explosions and gunshots marred Rivers local government elections as the Action Peoples Party (APP) won 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions in the state. The newspaper says some Nigerian youths have expressed divergent views on President Bola Tinubu’s planned national youth conference.
The Nation reports that leaders of the south-west geopolitical zone gathered in Lagos on Saturday to discuss the way forward for the proposed South West Development Commission. The newspaper says Nigeria has officially commenced the sale of crude oil and refined petroleum products in Naira.
Vanguard reports that Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom, has handed over the office of the first lady to Helen Eno-Obareki, his daughter, following the death of his wife, Patience Umo Eno.
