Once pursued by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Randy Waldrum, an American coach, has joined with the University of Pittsburgh.
Waldrum took up his new role on Tuesday. He was expected to take over the reins of the Super Falcons.
“We are thrilled to announce Randy Waldrum as our head women’s soccer coach at the University of Pittsburgh,” Heather Lyke, athletics director at Pittsburgh, said in a statement.
The NFF executive committee in October said it had approved the recommendation of the technical committee for the appointment of Waldrum as technical adviser.

The board had also directed the secretariat to conclude negotiations with the former Trinidad and Tobago women national team coach.
The American was fired from his last job as head coach of the Houston Dash in May.
TheCable could not reach NFF officials by telephone to confirm how the seemingly-sealed Waldrum deal failed to sail through.

Florence Omagbemi, the interim coach of the Super Falcons, was not offered a fresh contract despite winning the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon.
To qualify for Ghana 2018 AWCON, Nigeria must defeat either Burkina Faso or Gambia in the second qualifying phase.
Seven teams who progress from the qualifiers will join Ghana in the tournament scheduled for November 17 to December 1, 2018.
