NGO donates masks, foodstuff in Lagos

Health Drive Nigeria, a not-for-profit organisation, distributed nose masks and foodstuff to 100 indigent households in the Abule Shasha community of Egbeda, Lagos.

According to Akingbola Adewumi, its executive director, the outreach which held on Sunday was to improve the community’s preventive efforts against COVID-19 as well as reduce the hardship that people are experiencing.

“People in this area are suffering from acute hunger since the lockdown began. They have not been making use of the nose masks. They have a higher population of the aged in that community making them at a higher risk of being infected with the corona virus,” he said.

He added that the organisation received a $500 grant from a US-based pollination project with which it used to fund the outreach, which benefited “over 500 individuals” that constituted of their target households.
