There seems to be some ‘bad blood’ brewing with Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift over MTV Video Music Award nominations for Video of the Year announced on Tuesday in the US.
America’s most successful female rapper Nicki Minaj tweeted her disappointment with MTV for not nominating her record-breaking music video’s Anaconda and Feeling myself featuring Beyoncé for the award category.
Hey guys @MTV thank you for my nominations. Did Feeling Myself miss the deadline or…?

If I was a different “kind” of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.

If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year

Taylor somehow took exception to Nicki’s rants and responded at this point
@NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..

Nicki responds to Taylor swift

However, Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda video was nominated in two other categories for Best Female Video and Best Hip-Hop Video. While her ‘Feeling Myself’ video was not nominated at all, which she took as punishment for making it exclusive on Jay-Z’s music streaming site Tidal.
Anaconda is Minaj’s highest-charting single in the United States to date. It went on to spend eight consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart.
The video for the song, released on August 19, 2014, broke the 24-hour streaming record on Vevo by accumulating 19.6 million views on its first day of release, which was eventually surpassed by Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ in 2015, with over 20 million views on its first 24 hours.
Beyonce’s 711 video was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography and Best Editing. Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ video was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, Best Direction and Visual Effects. The MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 30.
In related news and also speaking of bad blood, Nicki’s boyfriend and young rapper Meek Mill also fired some angry and controversial tweets about a more successful hall of fame rapper, Drake. In frustration of being compared to Drake and other rappers, he tweeted
Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
Don’t compare me to none of the cats that don’t write they own raps either…… Lol
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
He ain’t even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album….. I don’t trick my fans! Lol

Drake is yet to respond, which is a sure bet sometime but his fans who all definitely out-number Meek Mills fan base are already shoving his rants in his face.
