The Niger state government has secured approval from the federal government to reconstruct the 90-kilometre Kontagora-Rijau road.
Bologi Ibrahim, chief press secretary to Umar Bago, governor of the state, said the governor disclosed this when he paid a visit to Muhammadu Mu’azu II, the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, at his palace in Kontagora.
Bago said he was at the palace of the monarch for royal blessings, reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the Kontagora Emirate.
The governor explained that the road reconstruction, which will form part of his urban renewal policy, would ease movement of people and goods as well as boost socio-economic activities in the area when completed.

Mu’azu II expressed delight in the state’s developmental plans, saying Kontagora Emirate will continue to support the government’s policies and programmes.
After the meeting with the monarch, Bago inaugurated some projects in Kontagora, including the remodelled Aliyu Tahir e-library executed by Shehu Pawa, chairman of Kontagora LG council; and office of the Kontagora Emirate development initiative, a project by the Sarkin Sudan.
Bago also inaugurated a 6-bed capacity health clinic built by Falalu Bello, commissioner for rural and community development, at the Gangaren Saggi community in Kontagora.
