The Niger state government says it is constructing 100 units of second-tier primary healthcare centres (PHCs) across the 25 LGAs.

Abdullberqy Ebbo, the special adviser to the governor on digital media and strategy, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Ebbo said Umar Bago, the state governor, recently announced that about 20 of these centres were at various stages of completion.

He added that two of the facilities would not begin operations immediately due to technical issues.

“They are those located at the Maitumbi FM in Bosso and Old Orphanage, Nasarawa C, in Chanchaga Local Government Area,” he said.

Ebbo said the project aims at bringing quality healthcare closer to those in rural communities.

“The centres will be equipped with modern facilities, such as beds, maternity equipment, computers, and solar power system, among others,” Ebbo said.

“This is also to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to the people of the state.”

Ebbo said the projects are an indication that the Bago administration prioritises the health and well-being of the people.
