Nigeria escapes FIFA’s hammer

Nigeria has beaten the deadline set by FIFA to vacate the court case instituted against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) by Messrs. Obinna Ogba and Yahaya Adamu of the Chris Giwa-led faction, after they withdrew the case on Thursday afternoon.

The world football governing body had warned that Nigeria would be banned from all football activities on Friday if the case was still pending.

However, at the sitting of the court on Thursday, the judge announced the dismissal of the suit following the withdrawal of the suit by the plaintiffs, thereby saving Nigeria from FIFA’s hammer.

Giwa was prevailed upon by President Goodluck Jonathan during a meeting with him and the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, on Tuesday night.
