Nigeria has a dynamic market, says CEO of SMA Shots

Sebastian Gronskov, chief executive officer of Spivi, Scandinavian beverage company, has described Nigeria as a dynamic market where businesses have the prospects of being successful.

Gronskob said this at the launch of SMA SHOTS, an alcoholic drink.

He explained that the company decided to launch the drink, which has two flavours -Small Shot Strawberry and Small Shot Menthol- in Nigeria because of the country’s dynamic market.

“We have been exporting in several countries like Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Japan, and now Nigeria. The country we chose to start within Africa is Nigeria to kick this brand off. We have very high hopes for Nigeria because it is such a dynamic market. We believe it is one of the trend-setting countries for all of Africa,” he said.

“A lot of traditional spirit making companies take the route of taking on countries like South Africa or that is maybe more like Europe…but we really want to make sure that our brand works well in Africa and the African market so we wanted to start with Nigeria where you are looking at market that is much more African.

“Our distributor here is called First Bottling Limited, so they are responsible for the rollout and they have very good connections with the local distributors. But our marketing push from the beginning will be focused on Lagos and then we roll it out from there.

“SMA SHOTS is lower in alcohol than ordinary spirits and is colourful and tasty with consumers’ refreshment its focal point.
