Nigeria, Mexico friendly game to hold in July

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will play Mexico in an exhibition match on July 4.

The news was first broken by the Mexican football association on its official website on Tuesday.

The North American country’s FA also announced the venue and time of the match while stating that the ticket sales for the encounter will commence on May 27.

The game is expected to kick off by 8 pm at LA Coliseum, Los Angeles, on July 3 which translates to 4 am on July 4 in Nigeria.

“The Mexican Football Federation and Soccer United Marketing report that the Mexican National Team will face its Nigerian counterpart on Saturday, July 3,” the statement had read.

“Tickets for the Los Angeles game will go on sale to the general public on May 27 at 10 am local time via www.MexTour.com.”

The NFF also corroborated the development in a statement on Wednesday.

“Three-time African champions Nigeria will clash with CONCACAF Gold Cup holders Mexico in a friendly at the famous Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the State of California, United States of America on Saturday, 3rd July,” the statement read.

The match will be the sixth encounter between the senior teams of both countries, four of which have ended in draws.

The game will come a month after the Super Eagles will have played Cameroon in Austria on June 4.
