Nigeria move up one spot on FIFA world ranking

The Super Eagles moved up from 39 to 38 in the latest FIFA world rankings published on Thursday.

But the Eagles dropped two spots on the continent from fourth to sixth.

Egypt, who remain first, retained 25th position in the world – the highest ranked African team.

Cameroon, Nigeria’s next World Cup qualifier opponent, moved from 36th to 35th, and a spot above Nigeria on the continent.

South Africa dropped two spots from 64th to 66th in the world rankings.

Brazil are now ranked number one in the world pushing Germany to the second spot.

The top 10 ranked teams in the world rankings are as follows: Brazil (1st) Germany (2nd) Argentina (3rd) Switzerland (4th) Poland (5th) Portugal (6th) Chile (7th) Colombia (8th) Belgium (9th) and France (10th).
