Olamijuwonlo Akala, son of the late Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former governor of Oyo, has won the Ogbomoso federal constituency election in the house of representatives.
Olamijuwonlo, a former chairman of Ogbomoso north LGA and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, polled 33, 268 votes to beat his close rival, Olufemi Onireti of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 27,126.
“I declare Olamijuwonlo Akala winner of Ogbomoso/north/south/Oriire Federal Constituency, having polled the total number of 33, 268 votes, while the PDP candidates Olufemi Onireti, polled 27,126 votes,” Hakeem Salami, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, said on Sunday.
In Lagos, Babjide Obanikoro, son of Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of state for defence, lost his bid to return to the lower legislative chamber.

The younger Obanikoro lost to Thaddeus Attah, candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the race for the Eti-Osa federal constituency seat in the house of representatives.
Attah won with 24,075 votes to beat Banky W of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,666 votes, and Obanikoro who had 16,901 votes.
