Nigerian-born Aduba wins consecutive Emmy award

Nigerian-American actress Uzo Aduba has won a second consecutive Emmy award for her role as an outstanding supporting actress in a drama series in Orange Is the New Black.

In 2014, Aduba won as the prestigious award as the outstanding guest actress in a Comedy Series, a role improved on to hit this year’s feat.

Viola Davis beat Taraji P. Henson of Empire to become the first African-American, in 67 years, to win the Emmy award for best actress.

Nigeria’s David Oyelowo was nominated for best lead actor in a mini-series or movie for his role in Nightingale, but the award was won by Richard Jenkins for Olive Kitteridge.

Meanwhile, television drama series, Game of Thrones, broke Emmy awards records winning 12 awards in one year, ousting The West Wing which won nine awards at the 2000 Emmys.
