Anthony Ujah, former Super Eagles’ invitee, thought he was playing the goat on Sunday but he has now apologised after offending animal rights activists.
Ujah tried to celebrate the 82nd minute goal he scored to put Cologne 4-1 up against Eintracht Frankfurt in the German league by running to the touchline and grabbing the horns of his club’s mascot, named Hennes.
He tried to drag Hennes on to the pitch and ride on it in what must now pass as one of the silliest goal celebrations in football.
His cheeky stunt was not considered funny though, as the mascot handler quickly intervened and pulled Hennes back.

On Monday, Ujah posted on Instagram with the caption: “Apologies to Hennes for my hard celebration”.
In a tweet that was later deleted, the striker said: “Yeeeeees. Finally a win for us at home and what a special way it came. Sorry to Hennes i was a bit too hard on him.”
The goat, named after former player and coach Hennes Weisweiler, is a regular feature at Cologne’s home games and is said to be in a good condition, despite the seemingly excessive celebrations.
