Accord Party has asked the government to prioritise pro-people policies to ease the economic hardship in the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday to felicitate with Muslims on the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Maxwell Mgbudem, Accord national chairman, said patriotism and prayers are needed to build a prosperous nation.
He said elected officials must focus on governance rather than politicking which does not benefit the citizens.
“The leadership and members of Accord celebrate with the Muslim faithful on the joyous occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the statement reads.

“We rejoice with them for their immense sacrifice, devotion to Allah, charity to fellow compatriots, love and tolerance during the Ramadan fast, and urge them to sustain the virtues beyond the holy month.
“The need for prayers, unity and patriotism amongst citizens cannot be over-emphasised in the quest for a strong, stable, prosperous and egalitarian democratic nation.
“To achieve this, Nigerians should be in one accord as national interest overrides personal, political and sectional interests.

“The masses yearn for good governance and progressive leadership that will redirect the ship of the state to the path of rectitude, development and advancement.
“Leaders at all levels of government are therefore urged to sit up and implement pro-people programmes and projects that will alleviate the hardship in the country.
“The populace deserves a fair deal from the government and not excuses.”
