Muhammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, says his ministry will inform Nigerians of the “true picture” of the policies of President Bola Tinubu.
Idris spoke on Monday after the inauguration of the recently appointed 45 ministers at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The new information minister said truthfulness is important to give credibility to the various programmes and projects of the Tinubu administration.
He added that proper management of government information is essential for the progress of the country.

“As a minister of information and national orientation, I have the duty of telling Nigerians the true picture of what transpired about the various programmes and projects of the administration in all sectors,” Idris said.
“Being truthful and effective as minister of information is essential to engender the trust of the people on various programmes and projects of the administration.
“I cannot say that it is a thankless job because the minister is only expected to truthfully disseminate the activities of the government.

“If you do that, then you are free with God and the people.”
Earlier on Monday, Tinubu swore in 45 ministers who were recently screened and confirmed by the senate.
Speaking to the new ministers, the president asked them to serve the country with “integrity, dignity and deliver” in their different assignments.
Tinubu said the assignment before the ministers begins immediately, noting that they must meet the expectations of Nigerians.
