Nigeria’s Elizabeth Anyanacho has beaten Gabon’s Urgence Mouega to qualify for the taekwondo event of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The 20-year-old secured the historic berth after defeating the five-time continental medalist 12 to 5 points in the -67kg category to become the second Nigerian female Taekwando athlete to qualify for the tournament.
Princess Dudu was the first Nigerian female Taekwando athlete to have ever represented the country at the Olympics in Athens 2004.
Nigeria’s Benjamin Okuomose, however, failed to clinch the Olympic ticket after losing 17 – 19 to Anthony Obame of Gabon, who is a former world champion and olympic silver medalist.
