The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), says it is prepared to collaborate with state governments to build accurate and reliable databases.
Abisoye Coker-Odusote, director-general (DG) of the commission, spoke on Thursday while receiving Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, general-manager of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) at the headquarters of NIMC in Abuja.
She said the collaboration will make it easy for states to use NIMC’s database to improve service delivery and policy formulation.
The NIMC said the move is part of efforts to ensure that the subnationals make adequate provisions for the needs of the citizenry.

“I admit that the age we are in is that of collaboration. In order to have a meaningful impact, it is important that we partner with each other,” she said.
“As no man is an island, so we have to continue to push the limits by leaving our comfort zones until the collective desire of seeing the country move forward is achieved.”
Speaking, Adebiyi-Abiola said the purpose of the visit was to explore possible ways for the two agencies to collaborate for an effective identity capturing of citizens.

She said providing Lagos residents and citizens with the best in terms of social welfare and other basic amenities requires a systematic approach that shows the government’s responsiveness.
Adebiyi-Abiola said a major advantage of the registration system is the ability to identify and locate specific individuals as long as they reside in Lagos and are registered with the agency, thereby strengthening the security system of the state.
