The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says nine persons lost their lives and 11 others were injured in a car accident along the Malumfashi-Kafur road in Katsina state.
Aliyu Ma’aji, FRSC sector commander, in a statement on Sunday, said the accident involved a Hummer bus conveying 20 people.
Ma’aji noted that preliminary investigation revealed that the accident was caused by overspeeding on the part of the driver.
The FRSC boss urged motorists to avoid speeding, overloading and reckless driving, especially during the festive period.

“The FRSC, Katsina State Command announced to the general public of an ugly incident of road traffic crash at Malumfashi town, on Malumfashi – Kafur Road,” the statement reads.
“It resulted to the death of nine people travelling in a Hummer bus conveying 20 people, 11 persons were rescued and now recieving treatment at a hospital for varying degree of injuries.”
