Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, says Abdul Ningi, the now suspended senator representing Bauchi central, is one of the best out of the state.
Ningi was suspended by the senate on Tuesday following his allegation that the 2024 budget was padded by N3 trillion.
At the weekend, the Bauchi senator stirred a controversy when he alleged that “huge damage” has been done to the north and the entire country through the budget.
The national assembly had passed a budget of N28.7 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year.

Tinubu had proposed N27.5 trillion, but the lawmakers had increased it by N1.2 trillion.
Speaking after the state’s executive council meeting on Wednesday, Mohammed said he was saddened by Ningi’s suspension, adding that the legislator is a “beacon of truth”.
The governor said the state government would do all it can to support the suspended lawmaker.

“Yesterday, I was very sad that the senate suspended one of our best from Bauchi for telling the truth, for standing up to be the beacon of the truth,” Mohammed said.
“Equally, I do not know what we will do but we will discuss privately to see what we can do to support him.
“Because I support whatever he is doing, and that is our best position, especially if what he is saying is the truth.”
