In a statement issued Sunday by AS Akinlabi, NIS public relations officer, the countries where the service was expanded to include the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, and Brazil.

Launched late last year, the system is designed to allow Nigerians renew their passports without visiting any passport centre for biometrics capturing.
According to the NIS, applicants can now renew their passports by downloading the agency’s mobile app on the Google play store.
Akinlabi said the Apple store version will be onboarded shortly, and an enhanced version of the app for Android and iOS users will be deployed to further improve user experience and accessibility.

“A future date will be announced for both countries in due course,” the NIS spokesperson noted.
