Nizamiye donates medical equipment to Sokoto Teaching Hospital

The Nizamiye Hospital Abuja has donated an electrocardiography (ECG) machine to the cardiology department of the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto state.

An electrocardiography machine records the electrical signals in the heart. It is used to detect heart problems and monitor the heart’s status in many situations.

It is also used to assess the heart rhythm, diagnose poor blood flow to the heart muscle (ischemia), diagnose a heart attack, and diagnose abnormalities of the heart, such as heart chamber enlargement and abnormal electrical conduction.

Commenting on the development, Mohammed Abubakar, public relations officer of the hospital, said the gesture is Nizamiye’s modest contribution to the development of the health sector in Nigeria.

“The management of the hospital realized the prevalence of heart rhythmic and vessel problems in the country and as a result of this saw the need to donate this machine to the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital to aid the cardiology department in detecting heart conditions in patients,” he said.

“As a hospital, we have plans to donate critical medical equipment to more public hospitals in the country as a way of giving back to society. This gesture is in line with our overall strategy of rendering not just medical services to Nigerians, but also contributing to the growth and development of the health sector in Nigeria.”

Anas Sabire, chief medical director of the Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital, expressed gratitude to the management of Nizamiye Hospital for the gesture and promised that the equipment would be used for the benefit of patients in the hospital.
