Nizamiye hospital celebrates 1000 coronary angiogram procedures

The Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja says it has successfully carried out 1000 coronary angiogram procedures since the commencement of the service in 2015.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the hospital said it is proud of this modest achievement, adding that it is a testament to its resolve to contribute positively to the growth of the health sector in Nigeria.

“We have reached the 1000 mark in Coronary Angiogram in our Cathlab procedures, and it is indeed a milestone for us given the number of lives we have been able to save through this intervention. By this feat, we are more than buoyed to continue to render quality healthcare services to Nigerians,” the statement read.

Nizamiye management said the feat was made possible with the quality of human resources in the cardiology clinic of the hospital as well as its resolve to ensure that Nigerians do not travel abroad for cardiac-related cases.

“Our One-Stop Cardiac clinic boasts of two expatriate Professors of Interventional Cardiology as well as a fully functional Cathab that caters to a wide variety of procedures such as Emergency Balloon, stenting of carotid, renal and peripheral arteries, Pacemaker implantation and a host of other cardiac interventions,” it said.

A coronary angiogram is a special x-ray test done to find out if coronary arteries are blocked or narrowed, where, and by how much. An angiogram can help interventional cardiologists see if patients need treatment such as angioplasty or stent, coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG), or medical therapy.
