The Nizamiye Hospital Abuja is celebrating the International Day of Radiology, an annual event held with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care, and improving understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiological technologists play in the healthcare continuum.
In a statement, Mohammed Abubakar, public relations officer of the hospital, said: “Medical imaging is one of the most exciting disciplines in health care and a field of great activity regarding technological and biological research.”
He also added that the Nizamiye hospital in recognition of this fact had made a substantial investment in radiology equipment.
“Our radiology department is operated by a consultant Radiologist with over 30 years’ experience garnered in Europe. We have in our radiology department imaging modalities such Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, Computed Tomography (CT) conventional x-ray unit, mammography, angiography, and 4D Ultra Sound machine, C-arm, and the mobile x-ray machine,” he said.

Cardiac imaging has been chosen as the central theme of the day, to highlight the essential role that imaging professionals play in the detection, diagnosis, and management of cardiac diseases, increasing the quality of care and treatment of patients.
